Saab says inks $2 billion Thailand deal

Defense and aerospace group Saab said on Monday it had signed a 2 billion Swedish crowns ($309 million) deal to supply Thailand with aircraft and other equipment and services.
The Swedish company announced that the order was from the Swedish Defense Material Administration following a government to government deal between Thailand and Sweden for an integrated air surveillance system.
"The order comprises six Gripen fighters of the C/D version, two Saab 340 aircraft, of which one will be equipped with Saab's radar surveillance system Erieye, and associated equipment and services," Saab said.
It said deliveries would take place during 2011.
