Fewer tourists from Thailand

There was a 20% drop in the number of tourists from Thailand in the past year across the border here, with tight checking various authorities is one of the reasons.
Deputy Tourism Minister Datuk Donald Lim, who said this, added that many tour operators complain that, in addition to checks by the Immigration Department, police, anti-smuggling unit and the Road Transport Department also checks citizens visiting Thailand.
These are among the reasons for the decline in tourists arrivals from Thailand.
We have brought the matter to the attention of the Prime Ministers Department, and I am sure we will be able to solve the issue soon.
I hope there could be a system like in Johor and Singapore, where a special card is issued for travel between both countries, he told reporters after visiting the Padang Besar MCA operations room near here Monday.
Tourists arrivals from Singapore, Vietnam and Philippines increased by 25% last year, he added
