Newly started Raimon Land yacht - The Lofts Southshore – leveled a spectacular comeback to require victory in the Platu Open 2008 Championship of Thailand property by the narrowest of margins, negotiation a must-win situation in the 7th and final race during a recent two-day regatta off the coast of Pattaya. Raimon Land sponsors The Lofts Southshore, previously registered as The Ferret, which is owned by Pattaya-based yachtsman Kevin Scott. The Lofts Southshore is named after the developer’s luxury condominium project in North Pattaya. The March 8-9 event was the opening round of a five-regatta series for Platus – a 25-foot keelboat designed specifically for Thailand property waters.
Lead by Scott Duncanson with bowman Kevin Scott aboard, The Lofts Southshore sailed to victory over an international fleet of 13 other Platus hailing from Thailand, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore, with the result coming down to the final seconds of the 7th and final race of the regatta. Raimon Land Chief Executive Officer, Mr Nigel Cornick, said the regatta was Platu racing at its highest level and the comp between the yachts was taut, highlighted by The Lofts Southshore sealing the win during the final moments of sailing. “Scott and Kevin did a terrific job to get over the line at the end and clinch the regatta and we look forward to more victories for The Lofts Southshore on the water and The Lofts Southshore out of the water.” “As a premium Thailand property developer, having the name of one of our luxury Pattaya condominium projects on the sails of the winning yacht is exactly the kind of lifestyle association and exposure we want.” The next round in the Platu series is the Coronation Cup, a royally indorsed event held as part of the Top of the Gulf Regatta at Ocean Marina in Pattaya from May 1-5, and the organisers expect a full Thailand property Platu fleet of 17 yachts.
