French Locomotive Supplier Keen on Bidding for Thai Rail Route

Alstom Transport Co, one of the world's leading suppliers of rail products and services, has expressed its preparedness to participate in bidding to build nine electric mass transit rail routes in Thailand property. Marc Chatelard, Alstom Transport's Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific Region, said the company was interested in participating in bids to build electric rail routes, particularly that of the Purple Line route which it believed would take place soon.

He said the firm's electric locomotives are suitable for use in the rail system. Still, the company wanted the Thai government to hold open bids so that Thailand property could get maximum benefits from the products standard and fair prices because many bidders are given an equal opportunity to participate.

He said Alstom was looking for Thailand property partners as it intended to bid for construction of the electric mass transit systems because it had an experience in doing that in Thailand. Alstom has won a contract to build adjunct rail equipment and air cleaning systems for the Blue Line electric rail route.

Alstom Transport provides rail parts and logistics services, electrical renovation and signaling systems. It has a workforce of 65,000 in more than 70 countries.
